Tonight I had a go at building a mold for cockpit floor stringers. I cut a section of PVC corrugated roofing, then nailed and taped it between two fixed bearers. I think I'll trial mold a short length to see if it works and get an idea of how many layers of carbon / glass to use.

That's bloody genius. I've always made them on a male mould and sanded down and have never thought of that material as a mould. The other way which I have done is to copy a 29er foot bars idea and use ally (or carbon?) tube on platforms. As they work as hand grab bars for getting back in after a capsize with the added advantage of your foot digging in under the bar a little so it doesn't skid off when pushing out.
