After several nights of templating, marking, trimming, cutting and then shaping and glueing the floor and side tank bearers I finally fitted the fwd bulkheads tonight. There is no plan for these bulkheads in the plans, so they took quite a bit of cardboard templating, and marking out of the curved floor bearers and position of side tank bearer and carlin notches etc

This sounds like one of the trickiest of the jobs so far?

I think the angled bulkhead is not an official part of the design and a bit of an optional extra. Most older boats don't have it. But it makes sense and nearly all new boats do have it. I think John Dawson is probably the one who invented it, he built a lot of (fast) boats. Other little things in the same category are raising the mast step plinth and putting camber in the foredeck to maximum permissible and making the gunwhale to the maximum permissible too. But these are minor points. I think the flexible twisty centreboard is the one really worth experimenting with. Lots of boats around here in NZL, nothing would convince me to build one because I'd never be able to build one better than those around. But one thing I would do is make sure the centrecase is the max possible distance aft so that I would not need to rake it aft so much (or wouldn't have to if I didn't want). Boards are quite thin, make sure slot is max width. I think John Elliott could give other advice and tips and maybe you already know/ have that. Sorry if I'm telling you what you already know
